A study of label-free silicon nitride asymmetric double-microring resonators is presented. The use highly accurate 3D vector modal techniques permits an extensive exploration the parameter space defining architecture proposed device in search for optimal geometries and reaching configurations not addressed previous studies that had been limited to symmetrical configurations. Asymmetry, on other hand, access resonances exploit radiation-quenching properties structure way. analysis presented also includes effect absorption sensor aqueous cladding generally omitted. results numerical survey indicate optimized bring about a substantive performance improvement at small microring radii are impractical more conventional single-ring due high radiation losses. Therefore, lower footprint devices, larger scale integration, can be attained with structure.
